NORTH PORT, FL (WWSB/RNN) – North Port Police found 32-year-old suspect, John Ludwick suffering from stab wounds after they said, a woman fought off an alleged kidnapper carrying a knife on Wednesday morning.
He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
Ludwick was involved in a high-profile case in 2005, after making comments relating to the disappearance of Alabama teen, Natalee Holloway, He claimed to have cremated Holloway's remains.
According to police, Ludwick was a former boyfriend of the woman who they said, he allegedly tried to kidnap.
"We're pretty confident he had some ill intentions here to do at least a kidnapping," said Josh Taylor, Public Information Officer for North Port. "What his intentions were after that we may never know, but they certainly did not appear to be good ones."
Gabriel Madrigal was friends with Ludwick and says that he had a history of suicidal tendencies.
"I'm sorry that he died but you know there's a God," said Madrigal. "If you do things and you think that you're going to get away with them, you're not, you know because eventually it's going to catch up with you one way or another."
Madrigal tells us he believes there may be somebody else involved with this stabbing death. Police say the woman involved will not be charged.
"From all of the information we have so far this was self-defense and we do not foresee any charges for her," said Taylor.
Authorities are continuing with their investigation.
