SAN ANTONIO, TX (WOAI/CNN) – The Grinch isn’t going to know what hit him.
A Texas man targeted by a Christmas decoration thief is taking matters into his own hands.
Ken Lamkin’s home surveillance video captured someone stealing roughly $400 worth of decorations from outside his home.
"That's the smoke machine and he decides that's the treasure he's going to grab first," Lamkin said, pointing to an image on his monitor.
"It reminded me of the movie “The Grinch,” when the Grinch was going through the town, taking everybody's presents and decorations and stuff like that," said Lamkin. "We're not going to let some Grinch steal our Christmas from us."
The tune has changed outside his house.
The happy holiday tunes are gone. They’ve been replaced by “You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” It’s on repeat.
The missing Christmas decorations have been replaced by six screenshot photos of the alleged thief.
"We printed up some posters, put them up on some board, wanted to keep it in the spirit of things, so we made it like a Christmas decoration," Lamkin said.
And then there’s the giant projector screen to play the surveillance video.
"We're going to watch this Grinch, and just sit around and enjoy the night, have some hot drinks and enjoy some good company,” he said.
Despite the theft, Lamkin remains optimistic for his own storybook ending.
"Hopefully something will happen, and it will touch his heart, and he will change,” Lamkin said. “Maybe he'll return all of the things he's stolen, just like the Grinch did."
