HOUSTON (KPRC/CNN) - There can be no worse news for a mother following a fatal shooting. In north Harris County at an apartment complex called Cranbrook Downs, a 23-year-old man met his end after trying to escape with his life in a truck, but he was mortally wounded by gunshots.
The death left his relatives in mourning. He made it about 100 yards before he crashed into some other vehicles.
Thomas Gilliland with the county sheriff’s office said the man was found dead in the truck.
Deputies and constable deputies mobilized a manhunt, using dogs and a helicopter to check a portion of a nearby bayou. There was a clear reason for the urgency because a man had been seen with a gun in the apartment complex.
The assailant remained publicly unidentified on Friday and nowhere to be found. The motive also is not known. The search for the gunman was ended about 1 p.m., KPRC reports.
