LEOMINSTER, MA (WCVB/CNN) - Massachusetts State Police have located the body of a man who barricaded himself in a burning home on Monday.
Police say they arrived at the home in Leominster to serve a warrant. The man refused to surrender and barricaded himself inside the home and then set it on fire.
Police went to the home to serve a civil commitment warrant. “A Section 35 is done for alcohol abuse or drug abuse because the person has reached the point where they are not capable of caring for themselves,” Leominster Police Chief Michael Goldman told WCVB.
Two officers received minor injuries from glass and smoke during the incident.
Leominster schools sheltered in place as a precaution, the report said.
