(CNN) - Technology security firm Malware-Bytes discovered a new malware this week that hacks into Mac users' cameras and spies on them.
Originally, the company discovered the malware - called "fruitfly" - earlier this year. A second strain subsequently appeared.
It operates quietly in the background whole it accesses users' cameras and captures images of what's displayed on the screen. It also logs key stokes.
Researchers do not know who is behind "fruitfly" or how it makes its ways onto machines.
The also don't know if the appearances of the malware are targeted instances or happenstance.
