MOUNT ORAB, OH (WLWT/CNN) - A man in Ohio is facing reckless homicide charges, after reportedly killing his step-grandson by pinning him down.
Prosecutors say the 400-pound suspect tried to restrain the autistic 11-year-old on Friday.
Sam Davis is Dylan Martin Davis' father, who only has memories of his son now and a few pictures.
"He started getting involved in riding my horses," he said.
Dylan died at the home of his mother's family outside Mount Orab, where his step-grandfather and his grandmother lived.
"He came home and he threw a fit. Police came here all the time for him and he threw a fit. My husband was holding him down, he got sick and then he just passed out, I don't know," a woman can be heard saying on a 911 call.
The step-grandfather, 58-year-old Donald Martin Jr., was arrested.
Detectives say Martin, who is listed between 360 and 400 pounds, pinned the 90-pound boy, who was unable to breathe.
Prosecutors say the step-grandfather kept the boy pinned down for minutes.
"It appears that the 11-year-old was deceased as a result of positional asphyxiation or compression," said Brown County Sheriff Gordon Ellis. "Some type of altercation between the 11-year-old and his grandmother and the step-grandfather stepped in and restrained the juvenile."
Davis says his son was autistic and was showing stronger anger as he got older. He says Dylan got along with his step-grandfather and no one expected this.
"Everything was good across the board, this has come as a complete surprise. It's mind-blowing," Davis said.
