(CNN) - Friday is the last day for Americans in 39 states to sign up for healthcare coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
Officials said, as of last week, nearly 4.7 million have signed up for plans for next year through Healthcare.gov.
Several million more are believed to have signed up through marketplaces in 11 other states and Washington, DC.
The number of Affordable Care signups for 2018 are expected to lower than 2017 because the 2018 enrollment period was shortened to six weeks. It was three months in previous years.
States that run their own marketplaces are expected to continue enrollment through January.
