SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX (KGBT/CNN) - She earned the nicknames "The Killer Granny" and "Losing Streak Lois," and after a nationwide manhunt, she’s in custody.

Authorities say the Minnesota woman with a gambling addiction accused of murdering her husband and a Florida woman was arrested on Thursday night.

Wanted fugitive 56-year-old Lois Riess was arrested by South Padre Island Police and U.S. marshals at Sea Ranch Restaurant and Bar after patrons recognized her.

Riess had been on the run since late March.

She's accused of fatally shooting her husband in their Minnesota home, then killing a woman in Florida, assuming the woman's identity and stealing her vehicle.

"Authorities in the area received a tipster call from a witness that indicated that they believe there was a lady that fit the description of the wanted subject, Lois. Officers arrived to the location on the island and then they were able to confirm that it was the true identity of the fugitive," said Chief Randy Smith, of the South Padre Island Police.

Smith says Riess was not armed when she was arrested, and officers were also able to locate the 2005 Acura she was last seen driving.

Riess remains in custody in the South Padre Island Police Department. It's unclear where she will be extradited, but Smith he is working with authorities in Minnesota and Florida.
