BARBOUR COUNTY, WV (WBOY/CNN) - Two people are dead after an explosion at a West Virginia gas company Wednesday morning.
A witness described what she saw.
“So I was standing here with my boyfriend and we heard this huge boom and it shook our faces. And a couple seconds later we heard metal clank and I was like I think something exploded,” the witness said.
Not many details about what happened are known at this time.
The Barbour County Sheriff's Department confirmed two people had died and one person was flown to a local hospital.
West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection said preliminary reports indicated that the victims were cleaning a tank when it exploded.
Officials are not yet releasing the names of the victims.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
