LAS VEGAS (KTNV/CNN) - Actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is becoming a factor in a judicial election.

A photo of incumbent Municipal Court Judge Heidi Almase next to Johnson was posted, suggesting that he endorsed her. But the picture was fake.

Tom Letizia is the man behind Cara Campbell's campaign for judge against Almase. It's a close race, so what caught his attention is that it seemed his opponent was getting a celebrity boost.

"I said, 'Wow, that's a great person to know,'" Letizia said.

But an endorsement from Johnson seemed to be too good to be true.

"Sometimes your opponent hands you something that is really stupid, and she did," Letizia said.

The picture was fake and it was soon taken down.

Almase said her campaign manager knew The Rock and claims to have gotten a verbal permission. But after she never got a written permission, Almase fired her, saying, "Given her lapse in judgment, in addition to her advice regarding campaign advertising generally, she was imminently terminated."

Despite the controversy, may people have already voted early, not even knowing what happened. But those who did are thinking twice.

"I don't like dishonesty in people, especially those who are supposed to represent me," one voter said.

Johnson has not commented. Voters head to the polls to elect a judge Tuesday.

"Do they feel that this is the kind of behavior that they are willing to accept in our courts, or are they are looking for someone to uphold the law?" Letizia said.
