BLOOMINGTON, MN (WCCO/CNN) – A man was arrested Sunday night after two people were stabbed during a thwarted robbery at the Mall of America.
Authorities say two people received non-life-threatening injuries after confronting an alleged thief in a Macy’s dressing room.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman, was trying to steal items from another person in the fitting room.
The owner of the items confronted Abdirahaman, and the suspect stabbed him, authorities say.
Screams coming from the first victim alerted his family, who came to his aid, and a second person was stabbed, according to police.
Both victims are expected to survive. The suspect also has minor injuries.
The Macy’s store was placed on lockdown during the incident.
Abdirahaman was arrested and is being held on two counts of first-degree assault.
