NEVADA CO., CA (KTXL/CNN) - Sheriff's deputies in a rural county in California have uncovered a buried body that may be connected to a missing persons case.
Police kept watch over a remote location Monday in the Spenceville Wildlife Area where human remains were recently discovered.
About 430 miles away in Los Angeles, the loved ones of aspiring actress Adea Shabani pray there is no connection. She was last seen in Hollywood a month ago.
As they wait for a positive identification, a source close to the investigation said the remains may be hers.
The source said Los Angeles police have been in the Sacramento area for weeks, investigating her disappearance. LAPD could not confirm that they were at the scene in Nevada County.
They did confirm Friday that 33-year-old Christopher Spotz, a man Shabani was romantically involved with, led police on a chase in Southern California and fatally shot himself.
Maksim Chasovski was visiting the shooting range down the road from where the remains were found Monday. He said it can be crowded in the area during the day, and it would be difficult to tell one gunshot from another if someone was shot nearby.
"There’s a lot of gunfire going on, really loud," he said.
