(CNN) - A pair of hippos saved a wildebeest from a hungry crocodile, and the whole thing was caught on camera.
The croc clamped down on the wildebeest's ankle near a river in South Africa's Kruger National Park.
The incredible video was captured by 72-year-old park visitor, Mervyn Van Wyk, who was visiting the park with his wife when the scene unfolded.
After a struggle, the crocodile began to drag its prey into the river. That's when a pair of nearby hippos came to the rescue.
They advanced on the underwater crocodile, freeing the injured wildebeest.
