(RNN/CNN) A pair of roommates escaped the Cascade Fire in Loma Rica, CA.
They shot a cell phone video of the harrowing experience. It looked like they would not escape several times. They can be heard saying they received no evacuation notice.
The shots through the windows look like a literal rain of fire. It was impossible to breathe outside the car, one roommate said.
The driver kept talking to his car, "Come on, Expedition baby, you can do it, girl!"
They make it through smoke so thick they could not see the road, which one said caught on fire as they raced past.
It's remarkable that they made it out alive.
