BAKERSFIELD, CA (KERO/CNN) - Seven students were arrested after a school fight that was caught on camera in California.
The video appears to show a student being beaten by his classmates.
Kern High School District officials confirmed the fight took place on the East Bakersfield High School campus Thursday.
The video shows one student laying on the ground as several other students repeatedly punch and kick him.
Bystanders laugh and one even says, "You're getting killed."
District officials said seven students were arrested by Kern High School District police.
Amanda Serverni, the mother of two students at the school, said she was shocked after seeing the video Friday morning.
"It's brutal, I don't know if these kids have been expelled, they should be expelled,” Serverni said. “That's my point of view on it."
Serverni said she doesn't understand where the school security was during the fight and that she feels the administration isn't doing enough to protect students.
“I think they, you guys, need more staff on that yard to watch these kids better because I see them doing all kinds of stuff off the yard and on the yard,” she said. “I don't think there's enough protection for those kids. Some of those kids are being picked on and bullied.”
Another fight broke out at the school the same day that was not shown on the camera.
The school district said it's investigating the incident and implementing disciplinary measures.
