DETROIT (WXYZ/CNN) – Prosecutors accuse a grandmother in Detroit of failing to provide a safe environment for her grandson and leaving drugs accessible to him that led to his death.
Gail Townsend-Finley, 60, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse related to the death of her 8-year-old grandson, Jamere Arnold.
The 8-year-old died of cardiac arrest after ingesting fentanyl at Townsend-Finley’s home in July 2017.
Early on, the grandmother reportedly said Jamere may have ingested a concoction of alcohol, but sources believe that was just a cover story.
Townsend-Finley was arraigned Friday and received a percentage bond of $50,000.
