ARLINGTON, VA (CNN) - Two Good Samaritans helped an elderly military veteran pay respects to his late wife.
George Boone, 96, went to visit her grave at Arlington National Cemetery, but his son forgot a wheelchair.
However, two volunteers stepped in and carried Boone to his wife's resting place.
The men held him there for 10 minutes while he paid respects to his wife, Alma, who died in 2007.
One volunteer then insisted he carry the veteran by himself back to the car, Boone’s son said.
Boone, who lives in North Carolina, was held as a prisoner of war after his plane was shot down during World War II.
His son said the act of kindness from the two volunteers made him proud to be an American.
