(RNN) - Jayson Gayler was looking through some old pictures, and when he got to the one of him walking his daughter, Brittany, to school on her very first day, he welled up, of course. Because her senior year was drawing to a close at Alvord High School in Alvord, TX.
So on her last day of school, they recreated the photo: Brittany has grown up to be a beautiful young woman, and Jayson - well, he looks exactly the same, further proof that being a sweet daddy keeps you young.
Brittany tweeted the photos side-by-side last week, and tens of thousands of people have retweeted the bittersweet moment. Many confessed to having to dab their eyes.
"My dad walked me to school on my very first day and today he walked me to school on my very last day," she wrote on the message.
A few days later, she told TODAY, "It was very bittersweet walking with him.
"It's definitely a moment I'm going to remember forever. When I posted the tweet, and going back and forth through the pictures, it just amazes me how fast it goes by. It feels like yesterday that we were taking that first picture."
