SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY (RNN) - Storm, a golden retriever, is a good dog.

A video shows him saving a fawn from drowning in Long Island Sound.

Mark Freeley, a lawyer, took the video on Sunday, Fox 13 New York said.

He and his dogs Storm and Sarah were strolling on the beach when Storm jumped into the water after something.

Freeley can be heard on the video encouraging the dog, "Good boy, Storm! Bring him in!"

Once the dog brought the baby deer onto shore, he stood watch over it as Freeley called for help.

“And then he started nudging it, and started pulling it to make sure she was going to be OK, I guess,” Freeley told CBS New York.

Unfortunately, the fawn had to be rescued a second time. When the experts arrived to care for the fawn, it got spooked and went back out into the surf.

This time, humans retrieved the wayward deer. The second rescue took eight minutes and two people from Strong Island Rescue.

The fawn, which was covered in ticks and suffered an eye injury, should make a full recovery.

As of Monday morning, the Facebook video has been viewed a million times.
