(CNN) - FBI agent Peter Strzok has been fired by the bureau.
But thousands of people are chipping in to help him cover his legal bills and other expenses.
After the news of his firing on Monday morning, a GoFundMe page was set up for Strzok and has raised thousands of dollars in a matter of hours.
As of Tuesday, more than $320,000 of the $350,000 goal had been met.
The fundraising campaign says Strzok is facing mounting legal expenses and loss of income.
According to the website it was created by "Friends of special agent peter Strzok."
The former agent investigated Hillary Clinton’s e-mail scandal and worked on the Russia probe.
He was removed after revelations that he exchanged texts critical of president trump with FBI lawyer Lisa Page with whom he had an affair.
The original goal was $150,000 but it has now gone up to $350,000 as of Monday night.
