(RNN) - Razer, a gaming hardware and lifestyle company, will release a new mobile device later this year, according to CNBC.
Razer has devised numerous gaming devices over the years, including laptops, tablets and mice.
"One of the most hotly rumored things about Razer is that we're coming up with a mobile device," Min-Liang Tan, CEO and co-founder of Razer, told CNBC. "And I can say that we are coming up with a mobile device specifically geared toward gamers and entertainment."
This latest, yet-to-be-named entry into their hardware catalogue will mark an even deeper investment into the mobile gaming space.
"The mobile market is one of those that we've taken a long-term view to look at," Tan said. "We realized that a lot of our gamers are also passionate about the mobile gaming market, so we've done a couple of moves," Tan said.
In 2013, the company introduced the Razer Edge, a mobile gaming tablet that could be compared to the iPad. This year's product will be the first truly mobile platform Razer has introduced to the market since the Edge.
Razer has bought various entertainment industry companies such as THX, video game publisher Ouya and smartphone developer Nextbit.
