(CNN) - Former Paramount CEO Brad Grey died on Sunday night.
He took the reins as the film studio's chief in 2005 and stepped down in February. Grey launched some of Paramount's biggest franchises during his tenure, including “Mission Impossible,” and “Transformers.”
He also oversaw critically acclaimed films like "Arrival," "There Will Be Blood," and "No Country For Old Men."
Before joining Paramount, Grey produced "The Sopranos," and "The Larry Sanders Show."
The film executive's death shocked many. He had been battling cancer for some time, but he kept his illness quiet.
Grey was 59.
