OSHKOSH, WI (WISN/CNN) - A sports car that can also fly could soon be on the road and skies near you.
It is one of the highlights at Wisconsin's Experimental Aircraft Association event that attracts more than 500,000 people.
The EAA is a celebration of almost anything that flies and even some things that you would more typically find on the ground.
The Switchblade is a flying sports car with wheels for the road, and retractable wings for the sky.
There have been other flying cars, but it's manufacturer says none quite like this one.
"This is a high-performance both modes. High-performance in the air and high-performance on the ground," Samson Motors CEO Sam Bousfield said.
This model is just a prototype.
The Oregon-based company said the first ones should be in the air by this fall, but about 48 of them have already been sold.
One of them to Frank Hanlon.
"I can get in my car, go to the airport, take off," Hanlon said. "You'll see cars that will fly in the next five to ten years."
This luxury doesn't come cheap, as the manufacturers say they're guessing the price tag will be about $140,000.
The first ones could be in the air soon, and one of its built-in features is a parachute.
The manufacturer said the Switchblade flying car is a great way to beat traffic, avoid delays at airports and give you more free time.
