(CNN) - A couple from Apopka, FL, was among the 12 tourists killed in a bus crash in Mexico earlier this week.
Christopher and Laura Couallier were riding the bus which was heading to Mayan ruins at the time of the crash in Quintana Roo. They had traveled to Mexico on the cruise ship Celebrity Equinox out of Port Miami.
The CEO of the Miami Access Tunnel says Christopher was the CFO of the Tunnel since the beginning of construction. He said, "our hearts are heavy and our spirits are low as we think of this horrific loss of two great people."
A Mexican state prosecutor said preliminary evidence suggests the bus may have been speeding. He said the bus driver could face criminal charges.
