Flashing eyelashes offered as cosmetic accessories

(RNN) - Flashing eyelashes that people glue to their eyelids are, a designer hopes, a coming must-have fashion accessory.

The LED F.Lashes designed by Tien Pham are color-changing strip eyelashes that come in blue, green, light blue, pink, red, white and yellow.

Pham says the make-up accessory will be available soon, thanks to the success of his recently launched Kickstarter campaign.

"We have created a new category of cosmetics: wearable electronic and interactive cosmetics," Pham said in a news release. "...They are work as easily as ordinary fake lashes, and users can choose from a range of colors."

F.lashes have a controller - that responds to head turns or tilts and jumping and dancing - and a pair of colored LED lashes.

He said a 3V coin battery will power the LED lashes for more than four hours.

F.lashes, the news release said, started off as a Halloween project with Pham's co-inventor, Davey Taylor, when Pham asked Taylor if it was possible to incorporate tiny LEDS into a costume.

They worked on the project in Davey's basement during their spare time.

"The reaction has been unbelievable," Pham said. "Both Davey and I are awestruck by the response to our F.lashes."
