HOLLY HILL, FL (WKMG/CNN) – A pizza shop employee shot and killed a man who beat him with a post and tried to stab him.
Heriberto Feliciano was closing up a Little Caesars just north of Daytona Beach over the weekend when he was ambushed.
The attack was captured on the store’s surveillance camera.
"As he stepped out of the door, he was immediately attacked by a suspect that was brandishing some type of wooden board," Holly Hill Police Chief Stephen Aldrich said.
Minutes before the attack, another surveillance camera caught the suspect walking around the restaurant. He was wearing a monster mask.
"He came dressed as he was in the attack with a board, so he apparently knew when the restaurant itself closed," Aldrich said.
The 28-year-old victim said the suspect hit him in the face and on the shoulder and then tried to stab him with a pair of scissors.
That’s when Feliciano pulled out a gun and shot his attacker.
Police arrived minutes later. The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he died.
"It was an ambush type of an attack and it does appear that he was defending himself," Aldrich said.
