(Strava/CNN) - One fitness app is potentially causing security concerns for United States military forces across the word.
Strava is a fitness tracking app that allows users to share their running routes.
Tech and security experts are now saying that information released by the app last year could lead to security issues.
Strava released an updated global heat map last November showing the activity of its users throughout the world.
This included more than 13 trillion GPS points.
An analyst with the Institute for United Conflict Analysts said Strava caused military bases to be "clearly identifiable and mappable."
A spokeswoman for the Pentagon said the Department of Defense is looking into the matter.
