CAPE MAY, NJ (CNN) – New Jersey firefighters sprang into action Friday to save a swimmer in trouble.
The City of Cape May Fire Department said on Facebook that someone began struggling in the water around 6:00 p.m. while attempting to rescue three other struggling swimmers.
The three original victims made it to shore, but the swimmer who had attempted the rescue could not make it in.
Fire crews and lifeguards formed a human chain to retrieve the victim and bring them back to shore.
All four swimmers were treated on scene and at a local hospital.
