(CNN) - Fiat's US car sales aren't looking great.
They're down 44-percent this year.
Fiat has only sold a third of as many cars this year as it did in the first six months of 2014.
In 2009, Fiat rescued Chrysler from bankruptcy.
But the Italian brand never really caught fire in the US.
Experts say all subcompact cars, like the models Fiat sells in the US, are falling out of favor with American consumers.
Only about a dozen American dealerships sell Fiat as their only Fiat-Chrysler brand.
Most of Fiat's nearly 400 US dealerships also sell Chryslers, Dodges, Jeeps and Rams.
