FEMA addressed rumors about topics including pets in shelters and hotels, fuel demand in Florida, disaster clean-up, inspections and repairs.

Here are a few examples:

  • Is it true or false that emergency shelters are required to accommodate the pets and service animals of evacuees? FEMA says TRUE.
  • Is it true or false that property owners forfeit federal disaster assistance if they clean up flood-damaged properties? FEMA says FALSE.

Users should visit FEMA.gov to get the up-to-date information on what is true about Hurricane Irma.
