MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WCCO/CNN) - The family of a Minneapolis woman who was shot and killed by police Saturday evening wants answers from the authorities.
“Piecing together Justine's last moments before the homicide, would be a small comfort as we grieve this tragedy," the victim’s fiancé Don Damond said.
Justine Ruszczyk called 911 because she thought a sexual assault might be taking place in a back alley near her home, a source said.
Moments after police arrived, Ruszczyk was dead, and by Monday, police have still not explained how or why.
"Sadly her family and I have been provided with almost no additional information from law enforcement regarding what happened after police arrived," Damond said.
The mayor said she's heard the officers were wearing their body cameras, but for some reason, those cameras, were not turned on.
Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges has asked the agency handling the investigation to release information as quickly as possible.
"I am heartsick and deeply disturbed by the fatal officer-involved shooting," Mayor Hodges said.
Ruszczyk moved to Minneapolis from Australia in 2014 to live with her fiancé and step-son. They were set to be married next month.
The Minneapolis police officer that shot and killed the woman has been identified as Mohemed Noor.
He and another officer have been placed on administrative leave.
