(RNN) - Happy Birthday John Carpenter. Rest in Peace John Carpenter.

The popular film review site, Rotten Tomatoes, declared Carpenter, a famous horror film director, dead in a tweet Tuesday.

He is known for popular '80s films, "Halloween" (1978), 'The Fog" (1980) and "Escape from New York" (1981) among many.

Carpenter is very much alive as the Rotten Tomatoes would later find out.

The tweet stated Carpenter "would have been 70-years-old today."

The living and breathing Carpenter responded with a tweet of his own.

"Despite how it appears, I'm actually not dead," Carpenter tweeted.

Quite a few people recognized this error and Rotten Tomatoes later apologized for the mistake.

"Sorry for the mix up earlier, the fog was heavy this morning. Happy 70th birthday John Carpenter!" Rotten Tomatoes would later tweet.

Somewhere Carpenter is still shuddering in horror.
