(RNN) - For someone who's facing a crisis - or worried about a friend or family member - it’s often hard to find instant support.

But Facebook is offering help that's just a click away. The social media site’s Partner Helpline, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offers free, confidential help from mental health or crisis counselors.

It’s easy to use. After Facebook users click “messenger” on their Facebook page, they can search for one of three services -  Crisis Text Line, the National Eating Disorders Association and the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids - then click that service to start a conversation with a counselor, who will reply in a matter of seconds.

Users in need can also send messages from these non-profit organizations’ Facebook pages by clicking on the page and then clicking “send message.” These Facebook pages also stay updated with discussion threads, supportive videos, news stories and tips for people seeking connection.

It may help someone to know they aren't alone by scrolling through the pages of the Crisis Text Line, the National Eating Disorders Association and the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, joining in the conversations and possibly connecting with folks who are experiencing similar challenges.
