SYRACUSE, NY (WSTM/CNN) - In New York state, a major bust in the fight against meth. In all, 31 people are facing federal and state charges related to the creation and distribution of meth after a series of arrests by multiple law enforcement agencies.
That news comes from Acting United States Attorney Grant C. Jacquith. Jacquith said most meth in the U.S. comes from Mexico.
However, he noted the number of meth operations in upstate New York has also spiked at an "alarming" rate in recent years.
"There is hope in the remedial and preventive effects of strong enforcement and in education that helps people understand the danger, and get themselves or their loved ones to treatment, or alerts them to the importance of contacting law enforcement so tragedy can be averted,” Jacquith said on Thursday.
He added that the operation produced revenue in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, a WSTM report said.
