Exter, NH hospital suffers mass casualty event

Posted

(RNN) - A "mass casualty" event was reported at New Hampshire hospital Friday.

Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH, evacuated its emergency department and operating rooms, which were closed and sealed according to the Union Leader. Other areas of the hospital remain open, according to hospital spokeswoman Debra Vasapoli. She said the incident began Friday morning with five patients complaining of dizziness and nausea. More and more patients began having similar symptoms, she said.

Aerial images show several hospital beds with patients in a roped off area outside the hospital.

The Boston Globe reported an "unknown odor" was detected in the building. Vasapoli told the Union Leader the hospital is working with the fire department and police departments to transfer patients.
