NEW PORT RICHEY, FL (WFTS/CNN) - An 8-foot deep, 8-foot wide depression has been expanding under Megan Denison's home in New Port RIchey, FL.
"It's like a beast under there," Denison said. “It's just, like, pushing its way through. Oh my God, what if tonight we're in bed and the whole thing just collapsed in, we'd be dead."
As of Thursday, 85 percent of the depression remains directly underneath the house.
If the depression shifts or expands, Denison and her mother may be forced to move after six years in the house.
"You have memories built into this place," she said. "It makes me sad. I love these people."
Pasco Emergency Management also warned both neighbors to evacuate their homes marked unsafe.
But just a few feet away, Jerry Rooney said he's staying for now.
"It seems like it's OK,” Rooney said. “It hasn't gotten any worse in seven hours, but if it does, I mean I'll be up half the night to be honest with you, watching that, seeing what's happening.”
Officials said it has the size and shape to hit "sinkhole" status.
Denison, an aspiring photographer, said she didn't have enough time to grab everything important.
"My pictures of my family, my grandmother, my father,” she said. “They're not here with me anymore, my uncle. Those pictures growing up with them."
