SULAWESI, INDONESIA (RNN) - A village shaman allegedly kidnapped a 13-year-old girl and kept her in a cave for 15 years, according to the Jakarta Post.
The woman was found in a hole near the Galumpang village after police received a report that the 83-year-old man named Jago had hidden her.
"We found the victim in a gap between rocks," police told The Jakarta Post on Monday.
Police said the woman had disappeared in 2003 and that Jago told her parents she had left to find work in the city.
An initial police investigation suggests Jago kept the girl to "fulfill his sexual needs." The man also told police he kept the girl to call upon a spirit.
The woman was allegedly tricked into thinking that she was having sex with a boy named Amrin who had "entered the shaman's body."
The man reportedly told the woman the spirit was guarding the hole to stop her from leaving the cave, according to police.
The girl told police she had missed her cycle and that Jago had given her a potion to abort the fetus.
The woman's sister allegedly knew about her situation but remained silent because she was married to the shaman's son.
The man faces charges under Indonesia's child protection laws and if convicted faces up to 15 years in prison.
