CAPETOWN, South Africa (CNN) - It rained in Cape Town Friday to the great relief of its residents.
Local officials had raised alarm as the city continued to edge closer to "Day Zero," the day, the city is expected to officially run out of water.
The city hadn't seen rain since Jan. 22.
Wayne Ronné who lives in Fish Hoek, Cape Town, took out buckets and started collecting water from the gutters.
Ronne said the water would be used in their washing machine and to wash dishes.
