LOS ANGELES (KCAL/KCBS/CNN) - A suspected car thief is dead after leading police on a dramatic chase that ended at the Port of Los Angeles on Wednesday.
He either fell or jumped to his death from a crane in the port. The coroner identified the man as 23-year-old James Llamas, KCAL said.
He fell about 160 feet to his death about three hours after he climbed up the crane and took off his clothes.
The chase across parts of the city concluded at the port when Llmas drove the car, which was stolen from a car dealership, into the terminal.
Port authorities and other local officials are investigating how he was able to drive the vehicle into a secure area of one of the America’s most active ports.
