MALIBU, CA (KTLA/CNN) - A pedestrian was killed on Wednesday during a car chase in California.
The tragedy began with an early-morning traffic stop in Malibu. Officials said the driver of a stolen Mazda fled after being pulled over.
Authorities pursued him initially. Then they had just eased-off on the chase because of the suspect's erratic driving when the pedestrian was struck and killed. The driver also hit several other parked vehicles and caused another accident, which caused his car to burst into flames.
He had to be rescued from the burning car by responding deputies. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment. There's no word yet on what charges he will face.
