(RNN) - The SPCA of Texas shared a video to its Facebook page of a man leaving a dog on the side of the road in Dallas.
The dog was abandoned in early August and the man turned himself in to police this week, according to the SPCA. He is being charged with animal cruelty.
The camera was installed by the Dallas Marshal's Office and the SPCA said this is the time it has resulted in a criminal charge.
The video shows the man pull off the road, pull on a rope to coax the reluctant dog out of the back of the car and then drive off with the dog left alone on the roadside.
The 1-year-old dog was taken in by the SPCA and has already been adopted.
