(WKBW/CNN) - Rapper DMX has been arrested for allegedly failing to pay $1.7 million in taxes.
The performer, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested Thursday.
He's been indicted on 14 counts, including tax evasion.
Simmons is accused of failing to file personal income tax returns between 2010 and 2015.
Prosecutors said he evaded taxes by using other people's names to set up accounts, avoiding personal bank accounts and maintaining a cash life style for personal expenses.
The rapper was scheduled to appear in federal court in New York Friday morning.
DMX is no stranger to the law.
He's been arrested more than a dozen times over the past 20 years, with charges that ranged from theft to drug possession to animal cruelty.
