ENTERPRISE, MI (WTOK/CNN) - Students at a middle school in Michigan had quite a surprise waiting for them outside of their classrooms on Wednesday.
"There was a deer trapped on campus," said Enterprise Elementary School Principal Steven Gunn. "I didn't know what to think."
The doors to the school were open and the deer saw it as an opportunity to enter the student-filled halls.
"I think it got startled by some kids and it tried to escape and found that the easiest way," said Enterprise Middle School Principal Marlon Brannan.
Surveillance cameras caught all the action. The deer can be seen running full-speed ahead until it hits the school's slick floors. At this point, the deer loses control and students are forced to make way.
The deer exited one hallway and entered another.
Brannon joked that "we even have wild wild animals trying to enroll here just because our school district is so good."
Both principals said this is the first time they have encountered a situation like this one.
