SANDY, UT (KSL/CNN) - A shooting left three people dead and two others injured on a street just blocks from an elementary school in Utah.
It happened Tuesday afternoon, after the school had let out for the day.
A person allegedly saw an adult woman with two juveniles in the street and stopped their SUV so they could drive them out of the area.
At that time, a man rammed the vehicle, bringing it to a stop.
The man then got out of his vehicle and started shooting at the SUV.
Two adults and one juvenile were killed.
Investigators confirmed that the male shooter was killed in the incident.
Two other juveniles were hurt, one is reportedly in critical condition.
Four of the victims were in the SUV at the time of the shooting.
Police cordoned off the area and officials locked the school down.
It was opened again after a few hours, and parents were allowed to pick up children who were still at the school, or taking refuge in nearby buildings.
