(RNN) – David Letterman, the grand old man of late-night talk shows, is returning to broadcast with a Netflix six-episode talk show in 2018.
Letterman, 69, retired in 2015 after 33 years as a groundbreaking talk show host on two networks.
The show is being produced by Letterman’s company Worldwide Pants and Radical media, which made the Netflix documentary “”What Happened, Miss Simone?” and “Oh, Hello on Broadway,” according to the Los Angeles Times.
Letterman said he feels “excited and lucky” to be working with Netflix.
“Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely,” Letterman said in a statement.
The terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
