(RNN) - Sen. Ted Cruz, R-TX, was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter overnight, and it wasn't for anything he said or did in the realm of politics.
Someone using Cruz's official Twitter account liked a two-minute long pornographic video, and it was featured on his account early Tuesday morning, the New York Post reported.
Catherine Frazier, the senator's senior communications advisor, tweeted that the offending material had been removed from his account and reported to Twitter.
It was unclear whether Cruz, a staffer using the account or a hacker liked the video.

It's not unusual for the social media accounts of famous people to get hacked.
The most recent attack came from a bug in Instagram, which allowed hackers to post nude photos of musician Justin Bieber to the account of Selena Gomez, his actress/singer ex-girlfriend, the Guardian reported.
Twitter's advice for keeping your account safe includes using a strong password, using a login verification and requiring an email and phone number verification in order to reset your password.
