(RNN) - A cruise ship canceled its Sept. 30 trip in order to deliver supplies to hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico and surrounding areas and, on the return trips, evacuate people from Maria's wake, CNN Money reports.
Adventure of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean ship with a 3,800-passenger capacity, docked in Puerto Rico Wednesday. It was just the first stop in a series of three to drop relief supplies and pick up evacuees.
The ship will then make aid visits to St. Croix and St. Thomas, which are also in desperate need after Hurricane Maria and, before that, Hurricane Irma.

Maria hit a week ago, leaving residents with barely functioning or destroyed transportation, electricity and telecommunications capabilities and a dire lack of drinking water, food and medical supplies.
