(RNN) – There are now 31 new millionaires in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, after a group drew the winning ticket during a historic Feb. 23 drawing.

The group, who work in construction at the Come By Chance Refinery in Newfoundland, were given the hefty $60 million check Wednesday.

It was the largest jackpot in Canadian history.

Members of the group include a pair of twin brothers, a father and son, and a married couple.

Sherry Moore Hickey, a shop steward, purchased the group’s ticket. The group has been buying lottery tickets together for three months, she said.

‘We throw in $5 each, so we had $155 worth of tickets,” Moore Hickey told Atlantic Lottery.

A majority of the winners hail from Avondale, a town of 600 people which now has eight new millionaires.

Five of the workers have chosen to retire immediately.

Splitting it up evenly, each person would get close to $2 million before tax.

The winning ticket was sold at a Circle K.
