PITTSBURGH (WPXI/CNN) – A huge chunk of granite fell from the edge of a building more than 20 floors above the city’s streets on Monday, creating a traffic snarl and damage below.
Traffic was detoured near the location of Grant Street where the stone hit the pavement. At least two streets were closed, leaving motorists seeking new routes to reach their destinations.
The 1,500-pound piece of granite fell over the weekend, WPXI said.
Engineers are working to determine a timeline of when the building will be repaired, and the streets safe to be used by motorists again.
