COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (KKTV/CNN) - Surveillance footage shows a man holding a 2-year-old child moments before tossing the boy into oncoming traffic.
Tracy Willner said Monday she was driving home with her family when she noticed the man standing on the side of the road.
"I said, 'Honey, slow down. He's about to throw something,'" she said. "And I said, 'Oh my God, I think he threw a dog.'
"When the baby stood up, I was like, 'Oh my God, it's a kid.'"
The car in front of them swerved, just missing the child. Willner and her husband jumped out of their car.
The suspect can be seen running away in surveillance video, followed by Willner's husband and two other witnesses.
"I grabbed the baby, and I just held him," Willner said. "He was soaking wet; he was crying."
She held the child and rocked him as the other three held the suspect down until police arrived.
"One officer said, 'You would be surprised at how many people just drive by and don't get involved because they're too busy or just don't want to get involved,'" Willner said. "I said, 'How can you not?'"
